Shared Business Services
It’s not just about the numbers.
Several years ago, public school district administrators consulted with the Genesee Intermediate School District to see what business-related services could be provided that would help to increase quality and lower costs. GISD worked closely with those districts to design tailored approaches (both full-service and a la carte options) intended to meet the needs and budget parameters of Genesee County’s public school districts.
Since that time, eleven local school districts and two out-county districts have developed Shared Business Services contracts with GISD to provide services that range from accounts payable and receivable, to payroll, and even full management of district budgets and their business operation processes.
Through this approach, Shared Business Services has helped leverage cost savings, and discovered opportunities to improve systems and processes as an added value to the partnership.
Services available to schools and local units of government include:
- Accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, and bank reconciliations
- Grant compliance and reporting
- F-65 filing
- Tax billing and collections
- Develop Request for Proposals (RFP) for federal programs
- Audit preparation in compliance with OMB-133
- Section 8, grant, and state reporting compliance
