Greater Flint Educational Consortium

General Information

The Greater Flint Educational Consortium (GFEC) is composed of eight CEOs of Genesee County's K-12, intermediate and higher education institutions.

Founded in 1988, the Consortium provides a forum for examining issues of educational significance and initiating collaborative endeavors. Recognizing that a quality educational system benefits the entire community and its image, the GFEC will:

  • Develop and implement collaborative efforts which facilitate sharing of staff and resources.
  • Foster relationships which promote and enhance education.
  • Assume the leadership role in the development of a quality/competitive workforce.
  • Pursue quality and equity of educational opportunities for all members of the K-16 community.

The GFEC is currently involved in seven initiatives involving the K-16 community:

  • K-16 Writing Committee
  • K-16 Math Committee
  • Fine Arts Committee
  • Senior (High School) Exit Survey
  • Administrative Leadership Academy
  • Institute for Beginning Administrators
